Glittering Coast is named for the crystal caverns that can be found all along it, with pink being an especially common color due to high iron content in the soil. Pink crystals are considered valueless by both the Citherii and the Gavalans. The delicate tech of the Citherii often needs absolute purity to be properly functional, therefore they prefer lab grown crystals to anything that could occur naturally. Gavalans also have no use for the crystals as they can’t be eaten nor are the crystals strong enough to be fashioned into weapons. Both races agree that even though the crystals are of little value, they are very pretty, and are a nice token of affection to receive from a loved one, especially if fashioned into jewelry.

Sharkanines don’t really value crystals either, but they sure do love rooting around in caves!
